2014 NCECP Scholarships Awarded

This year’s scholarships have been awarded to deserving high school graduates from Stoneham, Burlington and Reading. Special thanks goes to the Salem Five Bank and the Stoneham Savings Bank Charitable Foundation.

If you know of a high school senior who will be going into the fields of education or environmental studies, be sure to point them to the NCECP’s two $1,000 scholarship awards. Details can be found here.

NCECP at Stoneham Town Day

The NCECP had a great time at Stoneham’s Town Day on September 7th. We sponsored the Equine Discovery Center’s Mobile Classroom from Raymond, NH to make an appearance and it drew a huge crowd all day long. Miniature horses, Darwin and Newton, were a big hit, the bunnies were adorable, and Winston the lizard fascinated everyone!

Inside the mobile classroom, Tricia Bridgeo of the EDC was teaching visitors, young and old, about a variety of topics related to horses, wildlife and the natural environment.

Outside, the crowds gravitated towards the NCECP’s very fun “horse-shoe toss” game. We had lots of kids of all ages, as well as some adults, trying to win the “deluxe” prizes (some really cool stuffed animals).

All in all, a great day for both the NCECP and the Equine Discovery Center.
